The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW-India) Cochin Branch and IIW-India Foundation are hosting the D&H Secheron Electrodes Young Engineers Competition 2024. This competition is an excellent opportunity for young engineers to showcase their skills and expertise in welding technology, metallurgy, QA/QC, surface protection, corrosion control, and related fields.

About the Competition
The competition is open to young engineers under 35 years of age as of June 1st, 2024. The contest aims to encourage innovation and recognize the best young minds in the welding industry.

Eligibility & Entry Fee
* Age Limit: 35 years or younger as of 01-06-2024.
* Teams: The competition requires teams of three young engineers.
* Entry Fee: Rs. 2000.00 + (GST@18%) per team.

Competition Stages and Evaluation
The competition is conducted in two stages:
1. Written Presentation:
* Teams must submit a written paper on the designated theme, ranging from 3,000 to 4,000 words, excluding charts and exhibits.
* Submission Deadline: 18th November 2024
* Evaluation Criteria (45% Weightage):
* Presentation & Format of Report: 30%
* Originality & Creative Thinking: 30%
* Accuracy of Content & Extend of Research: 30%
2. Oral Presentation (Online):
* Selected teams will be invited for an online presentation, where two team members will present their work, with the third member serving as a backup.
* Evaluation Criteria (55% Weightage):
* Clarity & substance of presentation: 30%
* Ability to communicate with and respond to questions effectively from the panel of judges: 30%
* Team work in presentation: 30%
* Contribution to effective technological thinking & performance: 20%
Important Notes:
* Written Submission: The written paper should be in MS Word on A4 size paper, double-spaced, printed on one side with Arial font size 12. It should include a synopsis (maximum 500 words), a table of contents, and a list of references.
* Soft Copy Submission: Send the soft copy of the written paper to parappilgk[AT]yahoo.com.
* Online Presentation: Participants must join the online link provided by IIW-India 10 minutes before their scheduled presentation time.
* Late Arrivals: Teams failing to appear online before the scheduled time will be disqualified.
* Final Decision: The decision of The Indian Institute of Welding is final and binding on all matters relating to this competition.
