What is the CAG National Essay Writing Competition?
The CAG National Essay Writing Competition is an annual event organized by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. This competition provides a platform for college students to showcase their writing skills, analytical abilities, and understanding of important national issues.

Eligibility:
* Open to all college students currently enrolled in a course of study at any institution recognized by any University in India.
* Age limit: Participants should not be older than 23 years as of August 1st, 2024.
* Employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department are not eligible. However, their family members are welcome to participate.

How to Participate:
1. Online Registration:
* Visit the official website: https://cagessaycompetition.co.in/
* The registration process will open on September 14th, 2024 at 0000 Hours and close on October 3rd, 2024 at 1000 Hours, subject to capacity limits.
* Participants will be required to select their preferred competition center from the list provided.
2. Onsite Registration:
* Walk-in registration is available on the day of the competition, on a first-come, first-served basis.
* Registration closes two hours before the competition starts.
* Capacity limits apply.
* You can find the address of the competition centers on the CAG website, the field offices’ websites, and the essay competition portal.
3. Required Documents:
* Scanned Passport-Size Photo: In jpg/jpeg format. File name should be “your name-photo” (e.g., “abc-photo”).
* Student ID: Scanned document showing proof of enrollment at the University/educational institution. File name should be “your name-id” (e.g., “abc-id”).
* Proof of Date of Birth: Scanned document such as a birth certificate or Class 10th/equivalent mark sheet. File name should be “your name-dob” (e.g., “abc-dob”).
4. Competition Details:
* The competition will be held on October 4th, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
* You can write your essay in either Hindi or English.
* The essay topic will be revealed at the competition venue.
* The essay should not exceed 1,500 words and should include a 150-word summary capturing the essence and central idea.

Evaluation:
* Essays will be evaluated separately for Hindi and English.
* Evaluation criteria:
* Originality of thought and depth of knowledge
* Clear reasoning and quality of argument
* Critical analysis
* Structure and writing style
* The evaluation committee’s decision is final and binding.

Prizes:
* Top three essays in each language will receive cash prizes:
* First Prize: ₹ 50,000
* Second Prize: ₹ 40,000
* Third Prize: ₹ 30,000

* Last Date for Online Registration: October 3rd, 2024 at 1000 Hours
* Competition Date: October 4th, 2024
* Result Declaration: November 5th, 2024 (CAG website and essay competition portal)
