What is the Dhai Akhar National Level Letter Writing Competition?
The Dhai Akhar National Level Letter Writing Competition is a national-level competition organized by the Department of Posts. Participants write letters expressing their views on a specific theme chosen by the Department of Posts. The competition aims to:
* Promote the art of letter writing
* Foster creativity, critical thinking, and empathy among participants
* Recognize and reward exceptional writing talent

Scheme of the Dhai Akhar National Level Letter Writing Competition
* Periodicity: The competition is held annually, starting on 14th September and ending on 14th December.
* Topic: The theme for 2024-25 is “The Joy of Writing: Importance of Letters in a Digital Age.”
* Language: Letters can be written in English, Hindi, or any vernacular language.
* Categories:
* Up to 18 years:
* Inland Letter Card Category
* Envelope Category
* Above 18 years:
* Inland Letter Card Category
* Envelope Category

Eligibility for the Dhai Akhar National Level Letter Writing Competition
* Any citizen of India can participate.
* There is no minimum or maximum age prescribed for participation.
* Participants must provide a certificate verifying their age on the letter.

General Conditions for the Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Competition
* Word Limit:
* Plain A-4 size paper: Maximum 1000 words
* Inland Letter Card (ILC): Maximum 500 words
* Stationery:
* Embossed envelopes/ envelopes with stamps affixed: For plain A-4 size paper letters.
* Inland Letter Cards (ILCs): For letters written on ILCs.
* Handwritten: Only handwritten letters are accepted. Typed letters will not be accepted.
* Letters posted after 14th December 2024 will not be accepted.

Selection Procedure for the Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Competition
1. Circle Level:
* An Evaluation Committee will be constituted in each Circle, with the Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) as the Chairperson.
* The Committee will include academics, scholars, and journalists.
* The Committee will shortlist the top 3 entries in each category at the Circle level.
2. National Level:
* The top 3 entries from each Circle (12 entries in total) will be sent to the Directorate for further evaluation.
* A National Level Selection Committee will be constituted at the Directorate to select the final top 3 entries in each category at the National Level.
